Desert Musings
While I can’t always go to the desert, I can create that same sense of broader perspective through my Yoga Nidra practice. As above, so below. The vastness of space exists within each of us. Shifting your perspective, creating space, letting go, connecting to that part of you that feels like home.

Words are spells
Just recently, I read in two different books about the power of words. We have all experienced this power when in an argument. Words can hurt. Sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you, never rang true because words have hurt me. One of the authors went further, suggesting that the words we speak cast a spell, that is where the term spelling comes from, the act of writing words.

Are you a human being or doing?
Tending to your inner world is just as important as your external world. How you feel inside effects your health. There are countless studies that show the connection between mental health and physical health. Practices such as meditation and yoga nidra help address these inner needs, the need to turn in and tune in to your inner world.

Who takes care of you?
Self care is the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress. While a pedicure or massage would definitely count as self care, it doesn’t have to be big. It could be as simple as taking a moment to be fully present to your breath by counting backwards from 10.
