Life is Full of Choices

Ever take several steps forward, only to make some decisions that put you back to square one?  This past weekend I had the pleasure of going to Oregon wine country with friends.  It was a decadent weekend filled with many wine tastings, food pairings and overall gluttony and excess. This trip had been planned for a while, so I knew, my healthy eating and exercise would go out the window for the weekend.  We had a glorious time sipping and tasting our way through Willamette Valley. Catching up with old friends and enjoying the sublime early fall weather. What I didn’t anticipate was the physical exhaustion, the mental and emotional feeling of having undone all that I have been doing the last month.  Brain fog is real, and today’s episode was a thick, foggy slog.  It’s okay, this too shall pass but the regret of my overindulgence hung heavy today on my psyche. A friend of mine is a life long Weight Watcher, she says if you have a slip up do you throw yourself down the stairs or do you just step back up, one stair at a time?  Today, I am stepping up the same steps I’ve traversed before, there is no shame, just put one foot in front of the other.  Today, I choose to eat lighter, drink lots of water and move my body.

Lately, this has been my mantra:

I choose what I think

I choose what I feel

I choose how I want to live

Do I make mistakes?  Yes.  But as Maya Angelou says “Do the best you can until you know better.  Then, when you know better, do better.”

Today is another day full of new choices, will you choose differently?

If you choose, there is class tonight!

Yoga Nidra Zoom Class on Wednesdays at 7 pm.
