Happy New Year!
Welcome back from the fervor and/or momentary stasis of the holidays. Hopefully you emerged unscathed or relatively intact. I always look forward to cleaning up the holiday residue, including clearing my kitchen of the remnants of holiday indulgences and recommitting to my routines. While out for dinner on New Year’s Eve the conversation of New Year’s Resolutions came up. The topic was quickly put to bed by a few loud, old voices that groaned “I don’t do that anymore.” A quieter, may I say, wiser voice to my left, said she focuses on reflection instead of resolutions. As I played with the boba on the bottom of my mango cocktail, I thought, yes, New Year Reflections. In order to move forward, you need to know where you have been. If you are caught on the continuing loop of the hamster wheel, you can never make any progress. Stopping and reflecting on the year, including your triumphs, failures, the good, the bad and the ugly, you can make a plan for the new year. How did 2023 go for you? Are you where you want to be or is there more work to do?
In my studies of hypnotherapy, I have been learning a lot about manifestation and how to manifest the life you want. We are all creators but through societal conditioning, faulty beliefs about our selves, and less than helpful patterns of behavior, we often do not have the clarity to truly manifest the life our heart’s desire. Clearing space in your mind is the first step in manifestation. The first step to clearing space is recognizing and reflecting on the past, forgiving what needs to be forgiven, remembering the lessons learned, then letting go to make room for new, creative ideas or endeavors.
It is not too late to make your plan for 2024. Needing more time to yourself? A quiet moment to reflect? Come to Yoga Nidra this Wednesday, January 3rd at 7 pm MST where we will use the power of relaxation and our higher mind to reflect and reset our intentions for 2024.
May your new year be shiny and bright!
